Norman PD stresses pedestrian laws | News

The Norman Police Department is warning pedestrians that while the weather is beautiful outdoors, the lack of daylight in the evening hours can be very dangerous.

Officials say many people are walking or jogging outside this time of year.

While you may think you are being healthy, police say it can be a very dangerous situation if a car cannot see you.

Authorities ask that you stick to the sidewalk when walking along a road.

If there is not a sidewalk on that stretch of road, officers ask that you walk as far as possible to the left side of the road and face on-coming traffic.

Those outside should also wear light colored or reflective clothing when walking or jogging after dark.
